In collaboration with Arent & Pyke, Cumberland has redefined Magnolia House, transforming it from a dated space into a modern masterpiece. Retaining the house's original volume, the renovation involved a complete reconfiguration of its internal layout, with herringbone oak flooring replacing the previous limestone and updated lighting creating a more inviting atmosphere.
The renovation began with a straightforward brief focused on reworking the kitchen and bathrooms. However, a spontaneous sketch by Arent & Pyke of an innovative sculptural staircase elevated the project, leading to a dramatic redesign. This new staircase, serving as the metaphorical and literal spine of the home, has become the ultimate highlight of the space.
The four-bedroom home, now stripped of unnecessary elements, boasts new, intricate details that infuse warmth and personality. Detailed carpentry work and a revamped external landscape further enhance its appeal, creating a seamless blend of functionality and elegance. Magnolia House has been featured for its transformation, showcasing how thoughtful design and craftsmanship can elevate a project from routine to extraordinary.
