Project
Cloncorrick
Project Type
Residential
Cloncorrick was built in 1884 for Sir George Bowen Simpson to a design by John Horbury Hunt in the Victorian Free Gothic style. Today, Cloncorrick is divided into three apartments, with one apartment per level. Cumberland was engaged to renovate the first-floor apartment.
The scope of works included a complete strip-out of the existing apartment and significant structural changes to accommodate the new layout. This renovation featured the installation of a new kitchen, a master ensuite, a walk-in robe, a study, a powder room, and a bathroom. We also enclosed the large city-facing veranda and installed new oak timber flooring throughout. The project required detailed plasterwork and woodwork, ensuring every aspect of the apartment met our high standards of craftsmanship.
Additionally, we undertook extensive remedial works and upgraded all services. Specialized tradespeople skilled in heritage works were employed to maintain the integrity and historical value of Cloncorrick. The result is a beautifully restored apartment that harmoniously blends the Victorian Free Gothic style with modern luxury.
